Ok, I'll throw out a topic for general comment.
I was just watching an episode of "NCIS" with Teresa last week and there was a cop who was writing a novel in his off-duty time. The rest of his team was upset when they found out that he had based several of his characters on them.
I was surprised by this. As many of you know, I fancy myself a hack writer and many (if not most) of the characters I develop have some basis on people I know. Never a direct copy but a little bit of him, a bit of her, a bit of you. In fact, looking over the list of the registered people reading this, there's not one of you that I haven't been inspired by one facet or another of yours and incorporated it into one of my fictional characters.
Are you insulted or flattered by this? Would you be upset if you read a character that has many of your traits doing something that is unusual or even objectional to you personally? I mean, we all see ourselves in any stranger's fiction but I mean if you knew that I based the character on you and in the novella the person turned out to be a crack whore, an assassin or a Republican, would you be insulted? |

Insulted? I wouldn't think so. Aren't we all looking to leave our "mark" after we are gone. So, if my antics' inspire a creative process for someone else, does that not make me their MUSE!! How would that be a bad thing?
Just my silly .02!

I personally wouldn't be insulted by a fictional character about me as long as whatever the character was, wasn't the way you thought of me in reality. Good or bad! I think it is cool that I might inspire some one to write about me.

Hmmm _ I'd say "no" but everyone else is, and that's so spoiling your fun.... so "Hell, yeah, what right do you have to parody me?" |

Hey, Morgan, Let me point out something you already know - "Bi" != "Gay" so, the steamy love scene with Heffner and the gay Surfer dude is still a go....
